COPPER
REQUIREMENT OF PLANTS FOR COPPER.
Copper contains in tissues of all of the higher and lower plant-forms. Its quantity varies in wide borders depending on specific and high-quality features of plants, a phase of development, concentration and the form of mobile connections in soil. Bean cultures accumulate more copper, than grain crops (wheat, barley, oats) and some corn grasses; young plants contain more copper on solid unit, than old; leaves contain more copper than other organs of plants. Copper ions arriving in plants react with amino acids, fibers and other polymers, and form stabler complex connections in comparison with other metal ions. Physical and chemical function of copper is connected with the most latent and difficult processes in a vegetative cage: breath, photosynthesis, synthesis of fibers, carbohydrates and vitamins, a nitric and phosphoric exchange etc. Copper influences one of the factors necessary for normal realisation of assimilation of a mineral nitrogen and biosynthesis of polymers and fibers, especially at ammonic top dressing of grain crops. Copper influences fixing of molecular nitrogen and on a metabolism of plants, makes active processes of linkage of atmospheric nitrogen. Raises resistance of plants to high and low temperatures and to fungoid and bacterial diseases, favorably influences resistance of plants to lodging.
REQUIREMENT OF SEPARATE CULTURES FOR COPPER.
The most sensitive to a copper lack are: wheat, barley, white breeds of oats. At a sharp lack of copper these cultures do not ear, and sometimes and perish.
Cultures with average sensitivity to a lack or deficiency of copper: corn, edible root cultures (carrot, turnip, a sugar and red beet), industrial crops (hemp, a clap), buttered cultures (sunflower, a rape and others), bean cultures (a bean, peas, beans) and leguminous grasses for production of seeds.
Less sensitive to a copper lack are: corn grasses, a rye, buckwheat and green-head cabbage. These cultures are capable to acquire easier a copper considerable quantity, however on calcareous, peat, sandy and acid soils positively react to copper fertilizers.
At application of sheet diagnosis it is necessary to consider, that when the copper content in a solid of elevated organs is less 4-5 mg/kg of dry mass, plants positively react to top-dressings copper fertilizers which raise productivity and quality of cultivated production. The requirement for copper is various for separate cultures:
SOIL AS THE SOURCE OF COPPER FOR PLANTS.
Superficial horizons of the Bulgarian soils contain 4-140 mg/kg of soil. The highest content of copper in some pseudo-podsolic grey forest soils (140 mg/kg). The lowest content of copper in peat-boggy soils (5 mg/kg), in light grey forest soils and in soils with easy mechanical structure (10-15 mg/kg).
Soils covered with vegetation and a grass (chernozems, meadow, marsh, alluvial-meadow and meadow loamy), contain more copper in superficial horizon and in podsolic soils (оподзоленные grey and grey-wood), copper falls to the bottom layers of horizons.
In soil copper meets under the various forms: difficultly soluble copper salts, hydrates and oxides, copper minerals, organo-copper complexes, copper cations, water-soluble salts.
As active complexing agent copper is connected with organic substances in soil, humic acids and fulvic acids and depending on conditions form complex connections. In soil of water-soluble copper connections 1% from copper total there is less. The ionic form of copper most accessible to plants. In Bulgaria the big area with a favourable copper mode.SOILS WITH THE LOW CONTENT OF COPPER:
The lowest general content of copper in:
At cultivation of crops on soils with the low content of copper is required unroot processing of plants by the Natural microfertilizer «CUPRIC HUMATE» in a dose of 0,5-1,0 l/hectares.
The foliar top dressing a microfertilizer «CUPRIC HUMATE» is obligatory at cultivation of crops sensitive to copper, such as: wheat, barley, white breeds of oats, carrot, a sugar and red beet, a hemp, a clap, sunflower, a rape, bean cultures and leguminous grasses by production of seeds.VISUAL SIGNS IN PLANTS AND DISEASES CAUSED BY DEFICIENCY OF COPPER.
At a copper lack, such cultures as barley, oats, and wheat are amazed chlorosis, known under the name – a white plague. External signs of this disease are clearly expressed: tops of leaves grow white and quickly dry up. At the big deficiency of copper of a plant cluster, form a stalk but do not ear, if the ear it grows white is formed and in it grain is not formed.
The copper lack is adversely reflected on development of an ovary and grain of corn grasses, there come morphological variations in man's generative organs and die off female generative organs, can be degenerated and a mature germinal utricle which leads to empty seeds.
The lack of copper of tomatoes strongly detains growth of a stalk and reduces root system development, leaves are painted in dark blue-green colour and grow small, in comparison with normal plants, on leaves develops a chlorosis, edges of leaves twist to the top surface of sheet, racemes do not develop, the stalk and leaves become fragile.
Leaves of the salad suffering from a lack of copper, have the ugly form lose brightness, become chlorotic. A chlorosis first of all appears on a stalk and an external sheet edge.
At a lack of copper of soil the apple-tree, a pear, plum, a peach and citrus fruit crops fall ill with an eczema (shoots dry up). This disease is strongly shown during intensive growth of summer shoots, especially in hot summer and during a drought, and as at strong solar radiation.
On an apple-tree this disease is known as withering and destruction of tops of shoots. The first symptoms appear in the end of May – the beginning of July: growth of the top leaves on summer shoots decreases, edges of leaves are bent to the top area of sheet and the sheet gets the castle form. At a copper lack on leaves appears a chlorosis (on it is light-green a sheet background acts the net from dark-green veins), and at strong deficiency of copper develops also a necrosis which at first covers edges of leaves, and then and all area of sheet. Leaves die off and fall down; the top part of shoots becomes bare. At long copper deficiency of a top of shoots dry up, become yellow-coffee colour and perish. Crones of trees get the shrubby form; fruits grow small, deformed and hardened.
The lack and deficiency of copper causes following important diseases of plants:
COPPER DEFICIENCY AT CULTIVATION OF TOMATOES.
SYMPTOMS: Plants remain small, poorly develop. Leaves become blue-green, are braided to the central nerve. Plants wither. On the area of leaves appear stains of necrosis. The copper content in the amazed plants about 12 mg/kg of fresh green mass, and should be not less than 14-15 mg/kg of green mass.
THE DEFEAT REASON: More often disease is shown on the plants cultivated on peat substrata and on soils with the low content of copper.
PROPHYLAXIS: Balanced top dressing of plants by sprayses «AgroBioStim» and unroot processing by the Natural microfertilizer «CUPRIC HUMATE» in a dose of 1,0-1,5 l/hectares. At cultivation of tomatoes on peat substrata spend root top dressing of 0,03 % by a microfertilizer solution «CUPRIC HUMATE».
DAMAGE OF GRAPES BY THE BORDOSKY LIQUID.
SYMPTOMS: Young leaves most sensitive to defeat. On sheet periphery appear burnt zones of is dark-coffee colour, the sheet tissue becomes covered necrosis. Necrotic stains meet on all surfaces of leaves.
PROPHYLAXIS: Correct preparation of a solution and processing of plants under suitable conditions. «COPPER HUMATE» is better to make the first processings of vineyards biological products not causing phytotoxicity, a microfertilizer solution, for preparation of a solution of a microfertilizer of 250 ml to cultivate in 100 l of water. After an establishment of damages immediate processing of vineyards by nutrient solutions «ECOFERTILIZERS» is required.
