IRON
REQUIREMENT OF PLANTS FOR IRON.
In tissues of plants iron is present at considerable quantities (50-2500 mg/kg of dry mass), in comparison with other microelements. It concentrates in considerable quantities in vegetative organs rather than in reproductive organs. The highest content of iron is in a root system of plants. Concentration of iron in tissues of young plants considerably above than in old plants. In kg of dry mass at plants of corn and wheat, suffering deficiency, the content of iron is less 25 mg/kg of dry mass; the lucerne and a soya – have less 30 mg/kg, the content of iron at corn and a lucerne should be 30-250 mg/kg of dry mass, and at a soya of 50-350 mg/kg.
Iron in plants poorly movably as only its small part is in the water-soluble form, and 80-90 % is connected in stable organic structures. Therefore iron difficultly passes from old tissues in young tissues and in very small degree re-using. Speed of movement of iron depends on its concentration. Helatic iron form moves in 2-3 times faster in comparison with other forms.
Iron in a vegetative organism is connected mainly with various amino acids, fibers and other biopolymers. Iron ions accept active participation in oxidizing-reducing
REQUIREMENT OF SEPARATE CULTURES FOR GLAND.
Plants use iron in small quantities, but in all vegetation. Iron containing in seeds can satisfy needs of young plants before occurrence of the first present leaves. After that the plant starts to acquire iron from a soil solution, and with increase in green mass the requirement for gland increases.
Usually annual grassy plants have small requirement for gland, and long-term wood plants – big. From crops the most sensitive to an iron lack concern: grapes, hop, a rose-tree and fruit-trees. In areas with calcareous soils the lack to iron of some vegetable and other cultures is established: tomatoes, cabbage, a potato, corn, a soya, oats and tobacco.
The requirement of fruit crops and vineyards for gland is defined by a cumulative estimation at visual supervision, on a method «green stains», under the content of active iron in leaves and mobile iron in soil.
SOIL AS THE SOURCE OF IRON FOR PLANTS.
Iron total in superficial horizons of the Bulgarian soils about 1-9,4 %. Both soil reaction and aeration of soils change degree of oxidation of iron, and consequently its solubility and availability to plants. In iron salts are both bivalent and trivalent forms. Salts of trivalent iron are dissolved only in strongly sour medium (рН 3) and consequently in a soil solution are in insignificant quantity. Concentration of bivalent iron higher as bivalent iron forms in soil soluble connections at рН 4-6. At a sour soil reaction concentration of mobile iron which can appear toxic for plants increases. At рН 6-8 in soil the insignificant quantity of mobile iron contains, and at рН 8 and above iron is in a kind insoluble hydrates, therefore cannot be used by plants.
The greatest quantity of mobile iron in Bulgaria is contained by the degraded chernozems about village Vranjak, Vrachancko and loamy soils near Sofia and Karnobat.
SOILS WITH THE LOW CONTENT OF MOBILE IRON.
Areas with the low content of mobile iron:
At cultivation of crops on soils with the low content of soluble iron the foliar top dressing the Natural microfertilizer «FERROUS HUMATE» in a dose of 0,6-0,8 l/hectares is required.
The foliar top dressing a microfertilizer «FERROUS HUMATE» is obligatory at cultivation of crops sensitive to iron: grapes, hop, a rose-tree and fruit-trees, and from vegetable and field cultures: a tomato, a potato, corn, a soya, oats and tobacco.Deficiency of iron in soil can increase at carrying out of following agrotechnical measures:
VISUAL SIGNS IN PLANTS AND DISEASES CAUSED BY DEFICIENCY OF IRON.
At deficiency of iron fruit-trees, vineyards, a rose-tree and hop fall ill yellow chlorosis. On fruit-trees, this disease is defined in change of pigmentation of young leaves. Originally between ribs prevails faintly-green, and in a consequence and light yellow colour, veins remain faintly-green with a reddish shade.
The lack and deficiency of soluble iron causes following important diseases of plants:
Diseases from surplus of soluble iron it is observed only on a raspberry which is planted on soils with iron designs. On leaves appear black necrosis stains which merge in the big plots. These defeats are known under the name – a black spot.
IRON DEFICIENCY AT CULTIVATION OF CUCUMBERS.
SYMPTOMS: Young leaves of plants turn yellow and old leaves remain green.
THE DEFEAT REASON: Insufficient quantity of mobile iron in soil.
PROPHYLAXIS: the Choice of rich soils at cultivation of cucumbers. On calcareous, salted and meadow soils balanced is required top dressing by fertilizers «AgroBioStim» or a foliar top dressing the Natural microfertilizer «FERROUS HUMATE» in a dose of 0,4-0,6 l/hectares.
IRON THE CHLOROSIS OF BERRY CULTURES.
SYMPTOMS: Leaves and top of plants become yellow. Leaves and fruits remain small and underdeveloped.
THE DEFEAT REASON: the High content of carbonates in soil. Surplus of moisture in soil. A lack of nutrients.
PROPHYLAXIS: Planting of berry cultures to soils with low subsoil waters. Top dressing of plants by the balanced fertilizers «AgroBioStim». At disease occurrence, two-single unroot processing of plants of 0,2-0,3 % by a solution of the Natural microfertilizer «FERROUS HUMATE».
IRON THE CHLOROSIS OF VINEYARDS.
SYMPTOMS: disease First signs are shown on young leaves. From sheet periphery to an internal plane develops a chlorosis. At strong defeat colour of sheet changes from light yellow to cream-white. Then comes a necrosis and a premature defoliation. The sick plant develops slowly and gives a weak crop. After cold winters of a plant quickly freeze and perish.
THE DEFEAT REASON: Deficiency of soluble iron. At the high content of carbonates in soil access of soluble iron to plants is blocked, the iron metabolism in system soil-plant is shown. The high content of phosphorus in soil as induces to a chlorosis, receipt of iron to young organs is at
a loss. Iron is acquired difficultly at acidity of soil nearby 8,0. Iron a chlorosis appears at bad soil aeration, under the influence of toxic substances, at infringement of a nutritious mode, at a lack macro- and microelements, at a heavy irrigation, at stressful situations from high and low temperatures, at surplus of nitric fertilizer etc.
PROPHYLAXIS: Cultivation of breeds with high tolerance to the alkaline medium in a soil solution, application of resistant substrates, timely carrying out of agrotechnical measures. Unroot processing of plants of 0,2 % by a solution of the Natural microfertilizer «FERROUS HUMATE» in a dose of 200-250 ml/plant. Constant top dressing of plants by fertilizers «AgroBioStim».
